# Network Terms & Rules

**Effective:** 24 August 2026 · **Last updated:** 24 August 2026

## The short version

- Be lawful, be humane, and do not make the network worse for everyone else.
- Public IRC is public. Do not share anything you cannot afford to have copied.
- Mediaware may remove content or restrict accounts to protect people and the service, with notice and an appeal route where reasonably possible.
- Report abuse or illegal content at [abuse@mediaware.sk](mailto:abuse@mediaware.sk).

## 1. What these terms cover

These terms are between you and **Mediaware, s.r.o.**, Horná 54, 974 01 Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, company ID (IČO) 44 397 402, registered in the Commercial Register of the District Court Banská Bystrica, Section Sro, Insert 15371/S.

They govern your Mango Account and use of the Mediaware-operated Mango IRC Network at ` irc.mangoirc.chat `. They do not govern unrelated IRC networks, and they are separate from the [Mango client Terms of Use](https://mangoirc.chat/terms). By creating or using a Mango Account or connecting to the network, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the [Network Privacy Notice](https://mangoirc.chat/network/privacy).

## 2. Eligibility and accounts

- You must be legally able to accept these terms. If local law requires parental or guardian consent, you may use the service only with that consent.
- Network access may require proof of a valid Mango app acquisition and a supported, genuine Mango client. Buying the app does not transfer ownership of a nickname, guarantee that a particular name is available, or entitle you to nickname reservations above the service limit.
- Keep control of your passkeys and devices. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly report compromise.
- Do not sell, lend, share, or transfer an account or its reserved nicknames, impersonate another person or organisation, or register names primarily to block their legitimate use.

## 3. Network rules

You must not use the service to:

- break applicable law or facilitate unlawful conduct;
- threaten, stalk, harass, or target people with hateful or dehumanising abuse;
- publish another person’s private or identifying information without a lawful reason;
- distribute child sexual-abuse material, non-consensual intimate material, malware, phishing, or material that exploits or endangers people;
- send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, deceptive promotions, or disruptive floods;
- infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights;
- evade bans or moderation, interfere with the network, probe systems without permission, or attack users or infrastructure;
- scrape, profile, or systematically collect user or message data without a lawful basis and the relevant channel or user permission.

Channel operators may set additional rules for their channels. Those rules cannot permit conduct prohibited here or override applicable law.

## 4. Bots and automation

Useful bots are welcome when clearly identified, operated responsibly, and accepted by the relevant channel. Bots must respect rate limits, privacy, opt-outs, and channel rules. Do not use automation for unsolicited messaging, covert surveillance, bulk data collection, ban evasion, or activity that unreasonably degrades the service.

## 5. Messages, privacy, and history

IRC is a shared communication system. Channel messages are visible to channel members and can be logged, quoted, forwarded, or copied by recipients. Direct messages are not a promise of confidentiality. Do not send passwords, private keys, financial data, medical secrets, or anything else that needs end-to-end confidentiality.

The service may retain history as described in the [Network Privacy Notice](https://mangoirc.chat/network/privacy). You retain any rights you have in your content, and grant Mediaware the limited permission needed to receive, store, transmit, format, and moderate it to operate the service.

## 6. Moderation and enforcement

Mediaware may investigate reports and use proportionate measures including a warning, message removal, mute, kick, channel restriction, account suspension, or termination. We consider context, severity, repetition, intent, user rights, and risks to other people and the service. Automated flood and rate controls may act immediately; consequential moderation decisions are reviewed by a person when appropriate.

When we know how to contact the affected user and notice would not violate law, compromise an investigation, or create a safety risk, we will explain the material facts and rule involved in a restriction. You can appeal using the process on the [Abuse and Legal Contact](https://mangoirc.chat/network/abuse) page.

We may preserve relevant evidence and disclose it when legally required or reasonably necessary to address an immediate threat. We do not promise to monitor every conversation.

## 7. Reporting illegal or abusive material

Email [abuse@mediaware.sk](mailto:abuse@mediaware.sk). Our [reporting page](https://mangoirc.chat/network/abuse) explains what information helps us locate and assess a report. Do not send us copies of child sexual-abuse material; report its location and contact the appropriate national authority.

## 8. Availability and changes

The Mango IRC Network is provided on a best-effort basis. Maintenance, security incidents, upstream outages, legal requirements, or product changes may interrupt or alter it. We may change access criteria, limits, features, or discontinue the service, but will provide reasonable notice for material planned changes where practical.

Unless an offer explicitly says otherwise, purchasing Mango does not buy a guaranteed term of hosted-network availability. Any future paid network subscription will disclose its price, renewal, cancellation, and service terms before purchase.

## 9. Disclaimer and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the network is provided “as is” and “as available”. Mediaware is not responsible for content posted by users or for copies made by message recipients. Nothing here excludes warranties, remedies, or liability that applicable consumer law does not allow us to exclude or limit.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mediaware is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use or unavailability of the service. This does not limit liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

## 10. Ending use

You may stop using the network at any time and request account deletion at [privacy@mediaware.sk](mailto:privacy@mediaware.sk). Mediaware may suspend or end access for a serious or repeated breach, a security risk, legal necessity, or discontinuation of the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive will remain in effect.

## 11. Law and changes to these terms

Slovak law governs these terms. If you are an EU consumer, this does not remove mandatory protections or courts available under the law of your country of residence. We will date updates above and give reasonable notice of material changes. If you do not agree with an update, stop using the network before it takes effect.
