# Terms of Use

**Effective:** 10 May 2026 · **Last updated:** 10 October 2026

## The short version

- Mango is a paid app sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple’s standard licence agreement governs your use of the app; Mediaware adds a few supplementary terms below.
- You buy the app once for the listed price (currently US$4.99; regional prices may vary). The universal purchase covers Mac, iPhone, and iPad, with Family Sharing. Refunds are handled by Apple, not Mediaware, through Apple’s standard refund process.
- Third-party IRC networks have their own operators and rules. The Mediaware-operated Mango IRC Network has separate terms and rules.
- Mango 3.1 is released on the App Store. Optional TestFlight previews of upcoming updates are provided “as is” — no warranties beyond what Apple’s licence and your local law require.
- “Mango”, the Mango wordmark, and the Mango logo are trademarks of Mediaware. The brand is ours; the protocol (IRC) belongs to nobody.

## 1. About these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are between you and **Mediaware**, based in Slovakia ([mediaware.sk](https://mediaware.sk/)), the publisher of the Mango IRC client (“Mango” or the “app”). By installing or using Mango, or by using this website, you agree to these Terms and to our [Privacy Policy](https://mangoirc.chat/privacy).

If you don’t agree, don’t install the app and don’t use the website.

These Terms do not govern the optional Mediaware-operated Mango IRC Network. A Mango Account and that hosted network have separate [Network Terms & Rules](https://mangoirc.chat/network/terms) and a separate [Network Privacy Notice](https://mangoirc.chat/network/privacy).

## 2. Apple’s licence agreement applies

Mango is distributed through Apple’s App Store, the Mac App Store, and TestFlight. Your right to install and use the app is granted under Apple’s **Licensed Application End User License Agreement** (the “LSEULA”), available at [apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula](https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). Mediaware is the “Application Provider” under that agreement.

These Terms are *supplementary* to the LSEULA and address things specific to Mango (third-party IRC networks, prerelease software, trademarks, governing law). Where these Terms and the LSEULA cover the same point, the LSEULA controls; where they don’t overlap, both apply.

## 3. The purchase

Mango is a paid app. The current price is **US$4.99** (or the local tier set by Apple in your region). Apple is the merchant of record for the sale: the price you pay, applicable taxes, and the receipt all come from Apple. Mediaware does not receive your payment details.

**Refunds** are handled by Apple under [Apple’s standard refund policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/). Mediaware cannot issue refunds itself. To request a refund, use Apple’s [Report a Problem](https://reportaproblem.apple.com/) page.

The purchase is a **one-time fee**. Buying Mango does not subscribe you to any recurring charge. Any future optional paid service will disclose its price, renewal, and service-specific terms before purchase.

## 4. Beta software

Mango 3.1 is a released App Store build. Mediaware may also offer prerelease updates through TestFlight. Beta builds may contain bugs, change between versions, or briefly behave in unexpected ways. Mediaware will work to fix issues quickly, but you should not rely on a beta build for safety-critical or mission-critical communication.

Updates are delivered through the App Store and TestFlight on Apple’s normal cadence. Mediaware reserves the right to issue updates, change features, or stop supporting older operating-system versions; we’ll do that only when it’s justified, not capriciously.

## 5. Your responsibilities

Mango lets you connect to third-party IRC networks. When you do, **you** are responsible for your conduct on those networks. In particular:

- Follow the rules of each IRC network and channel you join. Third-party operators enforce their own rules; the Mediaware-operated Mango IRC Network has separate network rules.
- Don’t use Mango to do anything illegal, infringing, or abusive — for example, harassment, distributing malware, sending spam, infringing copyrights, or evading bans imposed by a network operator.
- Don’t reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where local law expressly permits this and not for the purpose of competing with Mediaware.
- Don’t resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app outside Apple’s normal Family Sharing mechanisms.

## 6. Intellectual property

The Mango name, the Mango wordmark, the Mango logo, the “Mango” visual design, this website, the app icon, app screenshots, marketing copy, and the compiled app binary are owned by Mediaware (or licensed to it) and protected by Slovak and international copyright and trademark law. Apple owns its respective trademarks (App Store, Mac App Store, TestFlight, the Apple logo).

The IRC protocol, the IRCv3 specifications, and the names of the IRC networks Mango connects to (Libera.Chat, OFTC, etc.) belong to their respective owners; Mediaware claims no ownership over them.

These Terms do not transfer any of those rights to you. You receive only the right to use the app under Apple’s LSEULA and these Terms.

## 7. Open-source notices

Mango is built with several open-source libraries (Swift NIO, swift-nio-ssl, swift-nio-transport-services, The Composable Architecture, and others), each used under its own licence. Attribution and licence texts are listed in the app’s acknowledgements screen. Nothing in these Terms restricts your rights under those open-source licences.

## 8. Third-party services

**IRC networks.** Most networks you connect to with Mango are operated by independent third parties. Their terms and privacy practices apply when you use them. Mediaware does not endorse, control, or monitor content on those third-party networks and is not responsible for it. The Mango IRC Network is the separately identified exception and is governed by the [Network Terms & Rules](https://mangoirc.chat/network/terms).

**Apple services.** Distribution, payment, App Attest, iCloud Keychain, and Sign in with Apple are operated by Apple under its own terms. Your use of those services is governed by Apple’s agreements with you, not by Mediaware.

**Mango Proxy and Cloudflare.** Signed-in users may use Mango Proxy to request remote preview resources without disclosing their or Mediaware’s home-server IP address to each remote site. Cloudflare performs the final remote request on Mediaware’s behalf. This privacy feature is subject to reasonable size, rate, destination, cache, and availability limits; it must not be used as a general-purpose proxy or to bypass another service’s access controls.

## 9. No warranty

The app and the website are provided **“as is” and “as available”**, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except those that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer-protection law or under Apple’s LSEULA. Mediaware does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every IRC network, or fit for any particular purpose beyond being an IRC client.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow the exclusion of certain warranties — in those places, the exclusions above apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.

## 10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mediaware is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app or the website. Mediaware’s total liability for any claim arising under or in connection with the app is limited to the amount you actually paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

## 11. Termination

You may stop using Mango at any time by uninstalling it. These Terms keep applying to any past use of the app. Mediaware may end your right to receive updates and support if you seriously breach these Terms — for example, by attempting to redistribute the app outside the App Store, or by using the app for unlawful purposes. Termination does not entitle you to a refund beyond what Apple’s policy provides.

## 12. Changes to these terms

Mediaware may update these Terms from time to time — for example, to reflect new features, new services, or changes in law. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page will change. For material changes, we’ll post a notice on the Mango website before the change takes effect. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms; if you don’t agree, stop using the app.

## 13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the **Slovak Republic**, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The competent courts of the Slovak Republic have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, this clause does not deprive you of the mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence, and you retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of that country or use any applicable out-of-court consumer-redress mechanism.

Disputes about Apple’s App Store, payment, or refunds are between you and Apple under Apple’s own terms.
