anyone running Swift 6.1 on Ubuntu yet? thinking about pinning the sandboxed CI runners to it but the deb still feels a bit fresh.

↳ tannerlinsley anyone running Swift 6.1 on Ubuntu yet?
@tannerlinsley been on it two weeks. swift-corelibs-foundation regressed one place — URL(filePath:) resolves symlinks now where 6.0 didn't.
easy workaround: .standardizedFileURL if you needed the old behavior.

worth reading the migration notes — they buried a paragraph on Sendable defaults under "minor source-breaking changes" that's anything but minor.

pavel is finally migrating his weekend project off 5.10
tannerlinsley 10:48
@pavel which one? the radio stream thing, or did you start something new?
mira 10:51
btw if anyone hit the String.formatted(.percent) regression on Linux — there's an open issue with a clean repro, please thumbs-up.

@mira link? I hit something like that on x86_64 last week and assumed it was my fault.

flipped the strict-concurrency warnings in my linter config this morning. painful first hour, then the codebase felt right.
tannerlinsley 10:55
agreed. @MainActor is finally workable in 6.1.

took me a week to stop reaching for nonisolated. now it feels obvious which way the boundary should run.
